Bordeaux Wine Bar

First off... can you tell me why Bordeaux is so hard to spell!? I mean it is not at all spelled like it sounds, and I also seem to confuse it at times with the word "Bordello" WHAT!? [which I know is something else entirely!! Hahaha] So, Bordeaux is a city located in the department of Gironde, which is in France. This city is on the River Garonne, and it is a major center of the wine trade. Bordeaux is also known as a wine [white or red] that is produced in the city. In comparison, I think you all know what a Bordello is and if not, I will leave to to learn about that all on your own!! LOL
The White Bordeaux wines include Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Red Bordeaux wines are blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. I am not sure if any [or all] of the information I’ve shared with you led to the reason behind the naming of this wine bar, but I am sure some of it may played a part. They state that “first and foremost we exist to bring people together in a welcoming environment over delicious beverages.” Can I just say... mission accomplished!!

Bordeaux Wine Bar is a vintage-inspired bar, and they feature wines and beer that are native to the Pacific Northwest. They opened their doors in March of 2018, established by two best friends, Emma Gunning and Ashley Muskus. I was totally enchanted the first time I walked through the doors and Bordeaux quickly became my favorite winery in Enumclaw, and possibly even in the entire state of Washington!! It was the friendliness of the girls Emma and Ashley. I visited often, and it was usually one or the other of them behind the bar, as they both had "real" jobs. Mostly sitting at the beautiful bar, thought I loved the decadent "bordello" feeling of jewels and red velvet splashed through the tasting room.
They invite the novice, as well as the wine geek to visit and I honestly feel like I’m both... I totally loved this place!! They are located at the edge of town, [like a bordello.. haha!!] and this is why I didn’t find them right away. I had never been to a wine tasting room that did not make any of their own wine. Their goal here is taste and share local Washington wines and wineries. They also have an amazing, delicious menu [see photo below] with very interesting food and wine pairings, including a chocolate desert pairing, and a goat cheese board and wine pairing!!

It is just such a fun place for me, and I love that they are so dog friendly. Parker was the perfect little wine companion, we's stop by after we took our stroll through the park. They always had something going on, like wine competitions. This is when they would feature three Pinots or three Cabernets from three different regions in Washington and take votes for the favorite. Or they would pit a Washington wine against an Oregon wine, and a California wine all in one flight. Parker helped me stick a pin on the region for the wine that we thought was the best. [see the bonus picture at the end]
They had regular live music, in fact the very first time I happened to grace Bordeaux with my presence [hahaha] they were going to have live music that evening. I went back to experience that and order the special for the night. [which was a yummy macaroni and cheese!!] I'm telling you, they had so much yummy food on the menu that I felt like I needed to keep going back so I could try everything!! The wine flights changed frequently so I couldn't miss that either!! Emma and Ashley were fabulous, and they made Parker and I feel right at home!! I loved when they let me taste test something new they were cooking up in exchange for my opinion!! LOL

One time my girl, Betsey [and her human, Amy Hollander] came down to visit Parker, [they are besties] from Seattle. We took our girls for a night out and to Bordeaux, because you can't have a night out without visiting Enumclaw's best tasting room!! We all had a great time and made some of my favorite and most precious memories. It is one of the places I miss most since we have stopped spending our summers in Enumclaw. We did go back and visit, and my friend Dianne told me they moved locations. They were more in town and “on the beaten path” so to speak.
Of course, I had to stop in to check things out when we were back. They till the same amazing menu, in fact they had more to offer. They where still in one of the old houses on main street, and this one had a beautiful porch and patio area. However, for me there was just a little something missing. It did not give off the same vibes, the one on one personal interaction of the owners. I understand they needed a bigger place since they were always packed and I am so happy for them and their growth, but sometimes [in my humble opinion] bigger is not always better.

Is this [above] not the bestest and most beautiful bonus photo ever!? The sweetest most precious little baby angel in the world!! [I am speaking of Parker!! Haha!!]
Join me next week... Wine with Wixy will be participating in the Enumclaw Wine Walk!! Have I mentioned that I love this small town living!? You just never know who or what you might run into!!
Cheers to you my wine loving friends, and TTFN!!
