What to do when you have the day off , the air quality is poor, and you’re looking for something to stay indoors!?? You find and try out new wineries!! Haha!! Since coming to Spokane area, I have loved walking around the Riverfront. Not only did I think it was beautiful, but there were is also an upper and lower falls, as well as numerous shops. It was in the shops that I found several tasting rooms, though I will only be blogging about one… Nectar Wine and Beer!!

It was a pretty little tasting room with great views, and we practically had the place all to ourselves. We took our time and sat around to take in the ambiance. We also played a few games. Check out this little Wine-O game [second photo down] Wine-O is similar to traditional Bingo, it is played in the same way except the numbers on the Bingo board are replaced with wine varietals and cocktails… possibly some that you'll get a chance to indulge in!! I’m actually surprised I didn’t buy one for myself!! LOL

The Nectar Wine and Beer tasting room was opened by Josh Wade in 2015. But rewind five years and let me tell you a little context because I think the backstory is pretty unique. You see around 2010, Josh started writing a wine blog for himself at drinknectar.com and it gained a lot of traction. He had over 12,000 monthly readers and over 20,000 page views on different social media platforms!! Not much different than me, right!? [plus or minus 12,000 or so readers.. HAHA!!]

This blog gave Josh a vision to build a one-of-a-kind beverage venue. With the success of his blog, he approached five wineries in Washington with a proposal to open the Nectar Tasting Room. This tasting room would have space available for each winery to be able to showcase their best wines to share with wine enthusiasts near and far. The goal was to “elevate your beverage experience beyond the ordinary.” I did not know this at the time, I just thought they had a lot of wine!! LOL

As the years went on, they added more and more wineries to the mix as well as an extensive beer menu. I mean, can you think of a better way to get couples to come in and spend some time. It wasn’t long till Nectar Wine and Beer expanded their services to involve catering and event management. They are proud to serve over 200 events annually and catering to an additional 500 events across the Spokane area!!

Last year they celebrated their 10th year anniversary, and they gave a nice shout out to their loyal supporters and the Spokane community. They proudly hold the recognition of being voted the #1 wine bar in Spokane for four years running. I also love that they gave the credit of their success to their “exceptional team members of dedicated wine and beer professionals. All of whom hold some type of wine training, education and/or certification. Go team Nectar!!

Surprise, surprise... next week Wine with Wixy will be taking a road trip back to Kalispell, Montana!! I know you remember me writing about my friend and #pilotwife Deb?? We are going for another visit, so you won’t want to miss Glacier Sun Winery!!

Cheers to you my wine loving friends, and TTFN!!
