We are on the road again!! Whoop whoop!! As you know, we are headed to a new location this summer, Driggs, Idaho. As you also may know (since I mentioned it when we went to a new location last summer HA!!) that when we go to a new location, we usually travel a different route, and that leaves things wide open to discover new and never-seen-before wineries!! Hahaha!! Y'all know what a wino I am, and that I am always on the lookout. I do my due diligence and research the areas where we will be stopping. Sometimes I can even get Shawn to stop if we are just passing through.

Well, this stop kinda falls into both of those categories. You see we stopped in Heber City, Utah for the night, or maybe we were there for two nights? I really can’t remember, but since we had a whole lot of fun here at the State Park, the Homestead Crater swimming hole, this winery, and some balloon chasing, I’m thinking it was two nights. This is only the “stop” part, the passing through part is that the winery I found was like 30 miles north of where we were staying in Heber City, Utah. I’ve often taken little road trips to other cities for the sake of tasting wine!! I mean winenot!? LOL

Let me introduce you to Old Town Cellars… this place was totally awesome. I have been to many wineries with the word "Cellars" in the name, but they were never in an actual cellar! It was almost like stepping back into Prohibition times. Who knew that when you were just innocently walking down Historic Park City’s main street, something like this was waiting for you at the bottom of the cellar stairs? The vibe was amazing, and I am pretty sure I totally enjoyed the wine. I mean, look at the last two photos... between the uniquely appropriate bottle labels and the wine's color, how could I not!?

Old Town Cellars [OTC] was opened in 2015 and is operated by its owners Stephen MacKay and Jason Morgan. Stephen, a former competitive ski jumper and Jason, his childhood friend both grew up in Park City. Together they built their dream bar and lounge, offering a sommelier crafted wine list, locally brewed beer, and high-end local spirits. OTC is the first winery to grace main street with its presence, and it is sometimes called it the “ski locker” for wine lovers. [cute right!?] Go figure, since they are open seven days a week through the ski season.

OTC is located smack dab in the middle of the main street, which is also known as Old Town. This is how they came up with the name, by taking “Old Town” and adding “Cellar” because, well… it reflects the nature of the downstairs tasting room. This room, the cellar, is where they blend their wines, with the goal of creating their “après-ski” brand. Après-ski is a French term that translates to “after-skiing.” It refers to the popular tradition of socializing, eating, and drinking at mountain lodges, bars, or restaurants immediately following a day on the slopes.

Next week, which also happens to be a couple of months from now [remember I am going to a little one-horse town with no wineries for the summer] Wine with Wixy will be on a road trip to Montana to visit our friends, the Flanagans, again!! There also may be a special guest visiting during our visit!! Until then...
Cheers to you my wine loving friends, and TTFN!!
