Singh Meadows Wine Festival [February 2023
So, you know how nosy and intrusive your cell phones can sometimes be, right!? Like I’ll be telling Shawn that I am looking for a new blender or something and lo and behold, when I open Facebook later the same day, all these blender ads pop up! Well, sometimes you are alerted to wine events in your area because you have either talked about it, looked it up, or even participated in similar events in the past. This is exactly how I found out about Singh Meadows Wine Festival.
It was a little far out of the way, but I still put it on my calendar. I told my best friend [Shawn] about it and that I was planning to go. I’m so happy to report that he opted to ride along with me, and we made a day trip out of it!! By now you have figured out that I’ve been to quite a few of these festivals, and they are all set up differently. They all usually serve wine in some form of tasting, but some are put on in conjunction with an art fair, and most have food trucks and live music.

You never really know what you’re going to walk up on, and I honestly never really cared that much. It is all a new and fun experience… just what I love!! Singh Meadows is a recreational space on about 70 acres. It used to be a golf course and was purchased by Ken and Lee Singh. The couple is originally from Scottsdale, and they turned it into an area for the local organic farmer’s market to take place. It also serves as a green community oasis, used for special events… such as wine and art festivals!!
The wine festivals are usually held over a weekend: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. So, make sure you check the schedule to see which day fits best into your plans!! Singh Meadows Wine Festival is only two days, we picked Saturday and headed on down. It is a beautiful venue, offering walking paths, a duck pond, and Adirondack chairs in picnic areas. They advertised local wines, craft beers, food vendors, live music, and crafts to benefit The Joy Bus. [I’ll get a little more into The Joy Bus in a moment.]

I do not usually pay much attention to the wineries that will be involved, but sometimes I look for any of my favorites. Sonoita Vineyards, Su Vino Winery, and Coronado Vineyards are a few that I recognized in participation, and I do really enjoy their wines. It was such a pretty day, and it was incredibly zen to just walk around the grassy field with a glass of wine while listening to the live band with the LOML. I found the sign above to be very amusing, and I should have bought it, but I didn’t know much about The Joy Bus until I started writing this week’s blog.
The Joy Bus is a non-profit organization with the sole purpose of helping deliver fresh, healthy meals to those who are homebound and suffering from cancer. The Joy Bus was founded in 2011 by award winning chef, Jennifer Caraway and is named in honor of Joy, a very close friend of Jennifer’s. Her “grace, drive, and determination were an inspiration to help those who are fighting the same battle.” This year is the second annual Singh Meadow Wine Festivals and as far as I can tell this event only took place for 2 years so I’m really glad we were able to participate when we did.

Isn't Mingle and graze a phrase that pops into your head when you think about being at a wine festival!? Weeeelll... next week Wine with Wixy will be visiting a wine bar with a couple of good girlfriends and it is actually called Mingle and Graze!!
Cheers to you my wine loving friends, and TTFN!!
