The Brush Bar [March 2020]

Here I am, back at another paint and wine event!! I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy doing these paintings, [and drinking wine.. LOL] and how relaxing it is for me. Plus, there are always good memories to go along with them AND I get to hang my masterpieces around the house and enjoy them every day!! Unfortunately, I do not have a total count on how many paintings I have "painted and wined." I’ll tally them up when we're back in Phoenix and let you know when I write a later paint and wine blog.

Needless to say, I am not going to be writing about each and every one of the paint and wines in and of themselves, because a lot of them are painted at the same studio. Plus, there is really only so much you can say about the process of how to do a painting while drinking wine. Haha!! I also do not want to bore you [as if.. LOL] but check out how my paint pallet looks below... it's practically a masterpiece all on its own!! LOL The Brush Bar is a paint studio located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale.

They have a liquor license here, so no outside alcohol is permitted. You can purchase wine or beer at their bar. They also have water, juice, and soda but they don't call it paint and water!! [JK.. drink what makes your creative juiced flow!!] You are, of course allowed to bring non-alcoholic drinks with you. This setup ensures that you are not “pressured” into drinking an entire bottle of wine, by yourself in a 2-hour period!! Haha!! From the photo below, it looks like we were drinking a Cabernet from Coastal Vines!! I actually prefer a paint and wine where you don't have to bring your own.

You don’t have to worry about forgetting anything such as a bottle opener, a wine glass, or stopper in case you have leftovers!! [as if any of these things would happen!! Haha] LOL Plus, they often have different brands of wine [I have never heard of Coastal Vines before this paint night] then I would buy, so you get to taste new [to me] wines!! It's a win-win-wine situation!! I like their promise of... “whether you are an aspiring van Gogh or just looking to explore your creative side, you are sure to go home with a painting that is uniquely yours!!” You should see all of my unique paintings!! LOL

I choose my paint and wine events very carefully. After-all, they are going to be hanging somewhere in my house!! Location of the studio can play a small part, but honestly I'd be willing to travel a little for a painting that I really wanted to do. When I saw the "love birds" [that's what I call them, anyways] I just knew it was a painting of me and Shawn and I had to paint them!! You can tell that I am the one on the right as I am slightly more "fluffy" than Shawn!! Haha!!

You should also recognize the lovely young lady pictured beside me in the photo below. Andrea has been in several other blogs so far. She was actually on a travel nurse assignment in Phoenix at the time of this paint and wine. In case you haven’t figured it out by now, Andrea likes to give add to my pictures by sticking her hand in or making bunny ears!! [as seen above] Hahaha!! I think it adds character, and it also just makes me smile!! This is only five years ago but look how young and adorable we are!!

Another pretty cool thing about this place is that you can buy a "paint box" to take home!! They have anything from “the works” which includes everything you need to complete a painting, including a video tutorial. Or you can customize your box, if you already have some supplies just get what you need. Even if it's just the video tutorial you want. I have done one of these and let me tell you, it’s pretty well put together!!

Next week, Wine with Wixy will be hosting a “covid-in-home” tasting, and it’s going to be very different. Obviously [and unfortunately.. haha!!] my house is not a winery. I feel like this time in my [wine] life still needs to be documented and shared. You see, I read about someone doing such a tasting during these hard times and it seemed like an amazing idea!! See you next week… mi casa es su casa!!

Cheers to you my wine loving friends, and TTFN!!
